Credit Repair Specialist

Credit repair specialist services are gaining in popularity as more and more people are trying to get their credit in order. Having good credit brings many benefits – being approved for a home, car, personal loan or a credit card; getting those at low interest rates and getting good deals on insurance premiums just to name a few.

You can do your own credit repair yourself but if the thought of it overwhelms you, then you might be better letting someone else do the work for you. Just be aware that there is nothing a credit repair specialist can do on your behalf that you couldn’t do yourself regarding your credit repair.

Before availing yourself of the services of a credit repair specialist be aware of your rights as a consumer and get a copy of the Credit Repair Organizations Act (CROA) which was passed in 1996 to protect consumers using credit repair services.

Be very wary of credit repair specialists who promise that they can remove negative items like collections or judgements off your reports.

If those items are accurate, then they can’t be removed and will stay on your report for 7-10 years even if you have paid them.

Just remember that only inaccurate information can be removed from your credit report.

There’s good and bad in every industry and the credit repair industry is no different.

When looking for a credit repair specialist, do your due diligence. Find out how long they have been in the credit repair business, obviously if they have been in business for many years that would be a sign of a reputable one to deal with.

However, still do some research, interview them before you hire them and ask some questions like, how long have they been in business and whether they have testimonials from satisfied customers that you could contact to verify that they do provide a good service.

Also be aware of any credit repair specialist who wants you to pay for their services up front, before they’ve done any work for you.

A credit repair specialist can help you get inaccurate information off your credit report thus improving your credit score and can save you time.

Just remember you can also do the same thing yourself and there’s plenty of information on this site to help you do just that.
