Fix My Credit in 30 Days

Many people ask “is it possible to fix my credit in 30 days?” The answer to that is you can make a good start to fixing your credit in 30 days, but it is highly unlikely that you will be able to fix it completely in 30 days.

The main reason being that credit reporting agencies take at least 30 days to verify a dispute you make regarding an incorrect item before they will remove it. So you could start the ball rolling and order your free credit report from either one of the reporting agencies – Equifax, Experian or TransUnion (or you could get a copy from all three as you’re entitled to a free copy from each of them per year).

Personally I think it’s better to just get one at a time, that way you can get one every 4 months and keep track of any disputed items that have been removed.

Besides incorrect information, you can also dispute items on your report that do not belong to you. Unfortunately identity theft is a growing problem, and you can have items listed on your credit report that are not even yours. Again, all you need to do is write to the credit reporting agency and tell them the accounts are not yours. Give them the name of the creditor and any account numbers given on the report.

Another thing you can do in your quest to “fix my credit in 30 days” is to ask for any outdated information to be removed from your report, for example an account that you may have paid off a couple of years ago. Removing that old outdated information is an additional way to fix your credit. Give as much information as possible in your letter and if you have the receipts, photocopy those and send them as well.

Same thing for inquiries made by you that are now outdated – dispute those as well. There may also be some inquiries on you report that you have not authorized that you wish to dispute. So going over your credit report for these kinds of items and disputing them will certainly get your credit score closer to where you’d like it to be.

Can I fix my credit in 30 days? It’s doubtful because you’ve first got to get your credit report, go over it, work out what items to dispute, create a letter to send them and collect and include as much information to verify your case as you can – receipts etc. Then once that letter is sent (preferably by registered mail) the credit bureaus then have 30 days to verify the items you’ve disputed and if they can’t, the items have to be removed.

Sometimes the credit bureaus take longer than 30 days to verify everything, because individual creditors don’t get back to them in a timely manner, which slows down the process on their end.

So in answer to the question “is it possible to fix my credit in 30 days?” you may not be able to fix your credit in 30 days but you will have made a good start in fixing it, and it should be only a short time later that you will hear back from the credit bureau with the questionable items removed and so have a much improved credit record.
